Autism is a neurological disorder that affects nearly 1% of worlds population. What causes Autism is still not known and there is no cure for Autism. It is a lifelong condition that affects the way that a person interacts with and experiences the world around them.. The vast majority, 84%, of adults with Autism are either unemployed or underemployed, despite their ability, desire, and willingness to engage in meaningful work.

The Individual

Autism is a developmental disability that can cause significant communication and social behavioral challenges.

There is often nothing about how people with Autism look that sets them apart from other people, but people with Autism may communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people.

The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with Autism can range from gifted to severely challenged. Some people with Autism need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less.

Autism occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, but is about 4 times more common among boys than among girls.

Living with a person with Autism affects the entire family Meeting the complex needs of a Autistic person can put families under a great deal of stress—emotional, financial, and sometimes even physical.

The Society

There is very little understanding about Autism in the society. In different ways and to different degrees, people view Autism as a source of disappointment, annoyance or worse.
